This anime appears to be based off a series of figurines by Hobby Japan and Megahouse, which seems unusual, but of course, a manga series and a video game are also in the works for this bikini girl anime. Tune in to find out what type of ecchi action this anime has in store for its public. This fantasy anime truly deserves the 18+ stamp. Judging from the promotional video alone, this anime, while labeled under “ecchi,” is borderline hentai, so beware, can you handle all that this anime has to offer?

Now this cute looking, ecchi anime is based off a manga of the same name. This anime will follow Izumi Hayato, who lost the election for student body president to Wakana Ui, a girl who flung condoms into the audience while preaching freedom to love. As it turns out, this girl was promised to Hayato as his wife through a drunken vow between their parents when they were three! How’s that for an opening? This anime is going to be animated by Studio Seven and each episode is going to last about 10 minutes. With 12 episodes announced in total, we can only look forward to what type of cute story will unfold in this ecchi, school life romance!

Most times, a fantasy anime with monsters features the standard monsters like werewolves or vampires, yet this one opens the door to many new species of monsters. Kanata is assigned to instruct them to victory, but this team consists of three fairly unusual girls. What can we anticipate from this anime if not lots of magic, fantasy, and action? Don’t you anticipate this magical girl harem? I know I’m looking forward to finding out why our hero is a zero and how he plans on making winners out of this team of losers! Though a bit on the older side, Golden Boy is widely held among anime viewers as ecchi as it get before hitting the hentai zone. Based off Tatsuya Egawa’s popular seinen manga under the same name, Golden Boy tells the story of Kintarou Oe, an intelligent young man on a journey to learn more about the world. During his travels around Japan, Kintarou encounters several extremely attractive women who doubt his earnestness. Yet, Kintarou perseveres and ends up charming the women in more ways than one. For those interested in seeing the change in how ecchi transforms the women’s body within seinen-oriented media, Golden Boy is probably a good place to start.

Ranma ½ is another classic anime with strong ecchi elements. Ecchi become common place in Rumiko Takahashi’s gender bending story about Ranma Saotome, a boy trained in the martial arts who becomes a girl when slashed with cold water and a boy with hot water. Perhaps due to its gender bending nature, Ranma ½ reveals how ecchi plays on human desires as Ranma uses his female form to his advantage to achieve his goals. Comedic as it is fan service-y, Ranma ½ satisfies anyone searching for a narrative with a side of ecchi.

A much more recent representation of ecchi, No Game No Life embodies the self-aware, modern rhythm permeating ecchi anime today. No Game No Life, as an anime about otaku/hikkikomori life and directed at a more otaku-ish audience, hams up its ecchi elements. Yet, this hamming up is not merely over the top fan service. Rather, ecchi in No Game No Life appears to reflect its modern developments. When comparing it to the ecchi of Golden Boy and Ranma ½ , we can perhaps see the various directions ecchi has expanded.

An oldie but a goody, Tenchi Muyo has a lot in common with Campione!, starting with the main characters. Like Kusanagi, the main character of Tenchi Muyo, titular Tenchi Masaki, finds himself hopelessly at the mercy of an increasingly large, outspoken harem of women who literally fall into his life. He also becomes the unwitting recipient of a powerful legacy of which he previously had no knowledge. Similarly, Tenchi Muyo contains plenty of action and charm to go around. Like Kusanagai, Tenchi is instantly likable, all the more so because he is hopelessly oblivious of his effect on the women around him. Tenchi and his friends are also compelling because of their myriad magical powers, such as the ability to summon devastating light saber-like swords at will, launch powerful blasts of magic energy, and even pets with the ability to morph into space ships. With ecchi elements and a bit of space-opera thrown in, this anime has a lot to offer fans of Campione!.

Love Hina is an incredibly popular series in Japan, and it is easy to see why. Much like Campione!, the protagonist is a young male surrounded by a colorful cast of women. Love Hina follows Keitaro Urashima, a teenager on a quest to enter the same university of an old flame (so old, in fact, that he no longer remembers her name). After many failed attempts, he ends up at his grandmother’s place, which has been converted into all-girl apartments, and a twist of fate makes him the new landlord. While there aren’t many fantastical elements in the show, the balancing act of everyday life, with entrance exams and managing the girls’ dorm make for some laugh out loud moments, and as with Campione!, there is charm aplenty and ecchi abounds. Keitaro, just like Kusanagi, is helpless when it comes to women, but unlike Kusanagi, he is hopelessly and hilariously outmatched.

Another hugely popular anime with several iterations, Ah! My Goddess! has plenty in common with Campione!. When a young man named Keiichi Morisato calls the “Goddess Helpline” on accident, his encounter with the goddess Belldandy changes his life forever. Forced to move out of his all-male dorm and into a Buddhist temple to accommodate the presence of a goddess in his life, things turn upside down for Keiji before he knows it. This show, like Campione!, draws heavily on world mythology, although in the case of Ah! My Goddess!, it is Norse, with a modern bend, as well as a strong emphasis on magic throughout the world. Although the cast of women isn’t quite as large as Campione!, Belldandy and her well-endowed sisters create some hilariously, erotically charged situations for Keiichi to struggle through, simultaneously blossoming into relationships the viewer cares about. There are plenty of equally alluring angels and demons orbiting the main action, ensuring that there’s plenty of eye-candy for the viewer, just like Campione!

Things were going great for somewhat-perverted high school student Issei Hyodo at his co-ed school. That is, until his encounter with a luscious fallen angel results in his death and subsequent resurrection! High School DxD has plenty in common with Campione! Although the main character is a bit more outspoken in his desire for women, his school is home to a large harem of busty angels, demons, and fallen angels to give him more than his fair share of trouble, and all the ecchi you can handle. There is a strong supernatural/religious influence, and plenty of action, since Issei isn’t about to take his death lying down.

Like Campione!, Strike the Blood is about a high school boy in a little over his head; Kojou Akatsuki is your typical high school… with the exception of being one of the most powerful types of vampire around. Isolated to an island off of Japan populated mostly by monsters, Kojou makes plenty of female friends. To make matters worse, every time he is aroused by the supernatural harem of monsters inhabiting the island and his school, his bloodlust becomes all the more insatiable. There are plenty of powers and battles in both Campione! and Strike the Blood. Both main characters acquire knowledge after having their physical needs addressed by the cast of ladies that surround them. With a slightly more supernatural spin, Strike the blood has plenty to offer fans of Campione!

Negima! Magister Negi Magi, like Campione!, fits comfortably in the harem niche because it is by the creator of Love Hina, which, as previously mentioned, helped popularize the genre. At the risk of double-dipping, Negima! has a lot to offer fans of Campione!, but with fun twists to set it apart. Negi Springfield, the young, male protagonist of Negima!, is a teacher at a prestigious university called Mahora Academy. The catch (which of course, there is), is the fact that his entire class consists of girls. Oh yeah, and, like the main character of Campione!, he possesses magical powers. Although it is a little less ecchi, the girls that surround Negi are very likable, in part because of the more innocent nature of their relationship with the main character. There is also plenty of action in between its compelling character moments.

DearS is all men’s dream come true in one cute, harem anime. Hot alien babes accidentally crash on Earth and become your all-pleasing slave. The protagonist is a rude high school boy named Takeya; who is not welcoming of the idea of the alien race, DearS. One day he sees a female shivering behind some bushes and casually asks if she’s ok; turns out it was a naked DearS. The alien girl collapses in the street and after Takeya saves her from getting run over by a truck he is suddenly stuck being the master of this helpless alien girl nicknamed, “Ren”. Even when Takeya is convinced DearS are only there to brainwash humans, he tries to teach the clueless, Ren, how to live like a regular human. Just like To LOVE-Ru, this is a story about a normal high school boy who is unwillingly dragged into becoming an alien girl’s “lover”. The story is not so complicated to follow and it’s just filled with cute girls fighting each other for the main character’s attention while adding the mandatory fanservice here and there.

Sakura Kusakabe is just a regular junior high school boy that is aspiring to confess his love for Shizuki, his school classmate. One day he comes home only to find our angel winged protagonist, Dokuro-chan, naked in his room. Her purpose is clear, she needs to kill Sakura in order to save the future of women on Earth. She more than one time succeeds at this by swinging her giant club “Excalibolg” at Sakura every time she thinks he is onto something perverted. After a graphic but funny death, Dokuro-chan always ends up reviving Sakura because deep down she knows he can be spared and the future can be changed. This anime is filled with gory, black comedy and some soft ecchi. The series itself is short and full of randomness but it is guaranteed to become one of your favorite harem anime. Making the main character’s life a nightmare is what Dokuro-chan and Lala have in common. Although the characters are contrary beings, angel and demon; they both make a regular school boy’s life a living hell. Both girls show up out of nowhere in the main character’s house and wind up living together with him. Sakura, like Rito, both spend most of the time trying to confess their love to their crush and failing. Both main male characters find that the girls (Lala and Dokuro-chan) make their lives miserable.

Driven by curiosity, Tenchi Masaki goes into his family’s forbidden shrine. Despite being warned not to disturb the terrible demon that lived in the shrine, Tenchi, awakens the not so fearsome looking demon girl, Ryoko. After hearing the news of Ryoko’s whereabouts, Aeka; an alien princess from space, makes it her sole purpose to arrest this demon. Following Aeka comes a whole lot of female characters that somehow connect to Ryoko and all end up falling for Tenchi. But why is this common human so popular among the girls? only that he possesses tremendous power to protect them… and the whole universe. This anime is a must see for all those who dig space girls, light ecchi and a good, complex plot. Tenchi-Muyou! is like the base story of To LOVE-Ru but with a much better thought out story. Just like Sakura, the main character Tenchi ends up surrounded by a bunch of alien girls that create a problematic harem anime. Like Lala, Tenchi-Muyou!’s character, Aeka, is an alien princess that comes to earth looking for a human to marry; in her case, her long-lost brother?

Hell has a soul leak and needs to be fixed fast; rumor goes that on Earth, there is a powerful god-like human that captures any girl that he can grasp. Lucky for Elsie de Lute; the clumsy demon girl assigned to capture the lost souls, the capture god has answered her message! On the other side of the story we have Keima Katsuragi, an unusual otaku boy that only sees beauty in 2-D female characters from games. Keima shut his heart at anything that is not a digital world and has a set reputation of being a dating game god. One day he receives a mysterious email with a message that to his eyes looked like a whole new challenge so he decides to accept the deal. After the email, almost instantly a joyful demon girl appears in front of him only to find out they were both mistaken. Elsie intends to capture real girl’s hearts in order to free the lost souls that inhabit inside of these girls and Keima is absolutely not agreeing with this but; too late. If Keima doesn't complete Elsie’s request, the necklace that randomly appeared on his neck will explode! so he has to do the impossible to get Elsie what she wants and is forced to work with her in order to live! Another cute and positive, devil-like character like Lala. Elsie, has come to earth looking for a teenage boy! But in this case, this demon girl doesn't know that Keima was just a regular boy with a LOT of knowledge in dating sims. But just like Rito, Keima is forcefully doing what this other worldly girl asks him to do. Pretty girls in abundance and they all somehow fall for the main character! Another one just like To LOVE-Ru to join the comedy harem train.

This is the ordinary life of a high school boy named Kio Kakazu whose average life gets interrupted by an alien girl that just pops out of nowhere into his life. At his great-great grandfather's memorial party he randomly spots a girl named Eris, who happens to have cat ears and tail. Of course, thanks to all of the random boobie shots within the first 10 minutes of the anime, we can easily tell that this is totally a perverted ecchi. As the typical harem anime, a friendly conversation escalates quickly to the girl and the main character somehow waking up the next morning in the same bed and oops! I grabbed a boob! oh no! the girl I just met is half naked! At some point this anime tries to introduce some light comedy and action which is weirdly spread out throughout the series while maintaining an ecchi atmosphere. This anime is set to be just a fun anime with a lot of sexy cat girls that want to play with guns, robots, and spaceships. Action battles, romance and a bunch of alien cat girls living together with the average teenage boy, what ever could go wrong? Asobi Ni Iku Yo is like To LOVE-Ru because they both feature a bouncy and cute main character and side characters from outer space. Both anime start off with an action crossfire scene, like trying to hide that they are harems shows for the first couple of minutes. Both anime have great art and animation bringing you some nice top quality fan service.

A weak ,small boy by the name of Yukinari Sasaki has a girl phobia so strong that he actually developed an allergic reaction towards all females. All his life he was pushed around by the opposite sex so badly that he developed a skin rash if touched by any girl. One day he gets transported to an alien planet for no reason; where the majority of the inhabitants are girls. This being said all the girls are uncontrollably attracted to him but because of his touch activated allergy he tries to avoid all except one girl Miharu Sena Kanaka, who is our main female protagonist. Yukinari for some reason is not allergic to Miharu at all but he is, of course, allergic to the rest of the alien girls. The anime is based on the daily life of this ordinary boy and the beautiful alien girl from the planet “Siren” he accidentally dragged back home to earth. This is a harem type anime where we can find comedy, ecchi, nudity and lots of double sensed jokes. Just like Lala, another pink-haired, alien girl protagonist to the list. Both girls are the nightmare of our main male protagonist who just wants to get away from them. Young human boys are sure sweet targets for cheery, somewhat clumsy alien girls. Both male protagonists from To LOVE-Ru and Girls Bravo end up living together with these hot alien girls and somehow end up, by mistake, in a sexual-looking misunderstanding. With both protagonist girls being very voluptuous, we can ignore the fact of them being total air-heads and just sit back and enjoy some boobie screen time.

The story introduces Ryuuji, a mean-looking, but kind-hearted high school student who has a crush on his classmate, Minori. He ends up having a fateful meeting with a small, but feisty girl, nicknamed the Palm-top Tiger. He helps her confess her feelings to a friend of his, but this eventually leads to something more between them. So, while I will say that Toradora! is a bit more intense at times than Haganai, they still share some themes in common. Probably the most obvious would be each anime’s main male protagonist. Just like Haganai’s Kodaka, Ryuuji has been ostracized at school for the way he looks, even to the point where people will give up their wallets to him out of fear. Kodaka and Ryuuji both proceed to meet close friends and we get to see them grow as characters. Another striking similarity is that Ryuuji is eventually led to make a critical choice between two female friends, both of which harbor feelings for him. He handles the choice somewhat differently than Kodaka, but the premise is quite similar!

Nisekoi follows Raku, an average high school student. As a child, he had made a promise with a certain girl that they would one day get married when they met again. In his high school he meets a girl by the name of Chitose, and by some turn of events, they end up becoming fake lovers. The part which resembles Haganai, is the fact that Raku is actually interested in another one of his classmates at first, Kosaki. The situation puts him at odds at times with his own feelings, just like Kodaka. The childhood promise of marriage is also a theme that plays a key role in both anime, as it later affects the love conflicts between the characters.

The main character, Nagase, kisses a girl whom he saved from a dangerous situation. Not surprisingly, she tells him off, only to later find out that she’s been arranged as Nagase’s wife-to-be. While some of the character types may be shifted around, in this anime, the main setting is quite similar. The main character meets a girl out of the blue, and she turns out to be the one arranged to be his future wife! Since she is a clear tsundere character, there are some problems and laughs to be had throughout the anime. The protagonist’s little sister even plays a main role in the story, very much like Kodaka’s sister, Kobato.

This is an anime which focuses on relationships with long lost childhood friends. The protagonist, Sana, moved away from his hometown to Tokyo, because of his parents’ business. Years later, he returns to his home to attend high school, but is troubled to see that not all of his once cherished friends are quite the same. Especially his closest friend from childhood, Nanaka, used to be cheerful, but is now quite shy and keeps to herself. This is something that mirrors the situation between Kodaka and Yozora, as he finds her to be surprisingly different once he finds out she was his childhood friend. Another similar character in this anime is the childish Hinako who tries to act older than her age. She plays some of the same roles as Kobato, even though she’s not the protagonist’s little sister.

This anime will appeal to those who thought Haganai’s main selling point was the amount of fan service it had. The protagonist has a problem with masochism, and is thrust into a club with two girls who in their own ways help him to get over it. The irony is that one of those girls, Yuuno, caused him to develop his masochism in the first place! The two main female characters, Mio and Yuuno are outgoing and more shy respectively, which is something seen in Haganai. This is a good one if you’re looking for the ecchi provided in Haganai, but aren’t in it for the more serious themes. Mio is very similar to a certain blond-haired girl in Haganai. Indeed, she drags the protagonist through tasks that he isn’t always so enthusiastic about.

Rito is your average high school student, with a crush on one of the prettiest girls in his class. This changes when he meets Lala, a princess from a distant planet named Deviluke. Often causing a lot of trouble for Rito, Lala decides she would like to marry him eventually, and so she becomes a part of his daily life, much against his will. The dynamic of two main female characters, one being introverted, and the other quite outgoing is the main common point between these two anime. Rito’s mature-seeming little sister enjoys his attention, similar to Kobato, although she doesn’t show it as much.

Panty and Stocking, also known as the Anarchy Sisters, are angels who were kicked out of heaven for their foul language. Since then, they have been blasting ghosts that exist in limbo. Panty, Stocking, and Garter Belt are kicking ass as they attempt to collect enough Heaven Coins to become angels again. There's almost no chance in Hell, but they're going to everything they can anyway! There's a lot going on in this anime from debauchery to general foulness. If you are a fan of explicit language and ecchi themes, this is the anime for you. It's got more action going on than Shimonseka, but it is definitely worth considering if you are a fan of adult comedy.

Matoi Ryuuko is on a journey to seek out the secret behind the death of her water with her only clue being a scissor blade. She finds herself at Honnouji Academy, a school that is ruled by an elite group of students wearing uniforms made from life fibers that give them special powers. The student body president, Kiryui Satsuki, holds great power over the students, but she may also hold the secret to Ryuuko’s scissor blade. As Ryuuko and Satsuki clash in battle, what secrets will they find and what will become of the school? Kill la Kill is another anime that features rebels going against what is essentially “normal” in society. Ryuuko defies the subjugation by those wearing with life fibers in order to find out the truth and release the students from the tyranny that is Satsuki. Ryuuko is more of a straightforward rebel who does everything out in the open despite the consequences in contrast to Ayame’s hidden tactics and dastardly plots. Although Ryuuko is not clever about the way she rebels, she still goes on a life journey to discover how she must change to fight alongside Senketsu in a world changing, ecchi war! Never underestimate a girl in a sailor uniform.

Katsu Kaizou believes in all things science fiction from foreign beings to conspiracies. He believes that something is going on in the world around him so he joins the science club and ends up coming across many strange beings and circumstances. What exactly will happen to him? A huge part of Shimonseka is the overall perversion and crude humor, so Katte ni Kaizou is an anime to catch if you are looking for that type. While Katte ni Kaizou is short and the episodes do not really have a set plot, you will find yourself laughing at the perverted humor and enjoying the flow of the anime. It’s not really the norm for ecchi anime, but it is definitely a different form of perversion. The 18+ plot and unbelievable circumstances will definitely keep you on your toes!

Yamada is a 15 year old girl with a dream to have casual sex with 100 different men, but she’s a virgin and she’s terrified of being teased about the way her vagina looks and being inexperienced, so she is seeking out another virgin to have her first time with. She comes across Kosuda Takashi whom she believes is the perfect person to lose her virginity, too. Watch Yamada as she clumsily tries the art of seduction and lose her virginity. B Gata H Kei shares a similar type of ecchi humor as Shimonseka. Yamada, obsessed with the idea of losing her virginity and having casual sex with 100 different men, forces herself on Yamada much like Anna’s lust filled craze has her going to the extreme with Tanukichi. B Gata H Kei BD is a bit more reserved (for lack of a better word) as Yamada is still learning how to interact with other boys while Shimonseka is full on ecchi as the students are overcome by puberty without any knowledge on how to cope with their newfound lust. Still, if you are still interested in a plot all about sex and indecency, you may want to check this anime out.

Sado Taro is a high school student with a secret: he’s a masochist, but he knows it will get in the way of any future possibilities of a relationship. Desperate, Taro goes to a special club seeking a way to fix his masochism. The club takes on the challenge, but the members, too, have their own problems, and Taro finds himself becoming a member of their ranks. He is soon in for a world of gross perversion and crazy adventures. Oh the woes of a high school masochist! MM! is an anime mainly centered around the idea of accepting your general perverted nature despite what others may feel or how you yourself may feel about it. Even though Taro feels shame as a masochist, he uses it to power himself with perverted energy to protect his friends. Shimonseka is about educating the students of all things indecent and vulgar, but the students are being taught what is natural so that they can accept it despite what the government has to say. I am not going to say there are life lessons to be learned here but maybe you’ll learn to be open about your inner hentai.

Tsuda Takatoshi is starting school as one of the first boys to attend Ousai Academy, previously an all-girls school. He is approached by Amakusa Shino, the student body president, when he first arrives at the school who appoints him as the vice president of the student council. Takatoshi discovers that these girls are crude and way too candid for comfort. What type of high school life is Takatoshi in for? This anime is short of having as many censors as Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai. They both involve vulgar women who are constantly making crude jokes and comments. The main characters love to make crass comments towards the more reserved male protagonists that cross the border of sexual harassment. All the women are always asking or replying in crude ways that are sure to make you think twice about talking to them. Seito Yakuindomo is all about being crass in a slice of life setting. You know all those thoughts you don’t say? Well, Shino will blurt them out and more. This anime is a milder version of Shimonseka, but it is not to be missed out.

Evangelion is an action, drama, sci-fi and mecha anime. Shinji, Asuka, and Rei are part of an underground UN group called NERV that fights against the aliens that are invading Earth. Why are they invading? They want to reach something in Nerv’s base and usher in a second world disaster like the first one. Each time takes more and more of the characters and shows how fragile or strong, people can be. Some break under the pressure and some become much stronger. This show also pokes at how mucha person can take psychologically. The parallels are everywhere in this show. Shinji, Asuka, and Rei fight against a set of invading aliens while the characters of Freezing are doing the same. Not to mention too, the aliens, just like in Freezing, want access to an underground facility where in Eva, it's NERV. They do not have magical capabilities like the characters in Freezing, but they still do have superhuman strength and abilities in their Eva.

As I watched freezing, Claymore also came to mind. Claymore is about an Earth set in a medieval time ravaged by yoma. Yoma are demonic predators that thrive on eating humans. Governments came together in an effort to fight back and created the silver-eyed witches known as claymores who have the strength to fight these superhuman demons. Raki is a down on his luck boy being attacked by a yoma who is saved by Claire, a Claymore. Claire starts out as a supposed weak character, but becomes stronger and stronger as she searches for the truth and protects Raki. Right away, this series has genetically modified women just like Freezing. This show also has a lot of fighting scenes just like Freezing. True in Claymore the yoma are already on the Earth and have been, they are still extremely powerful and require a special fighter to take them down aka Claymores. You also have the theme of a not as strong male being protected by a super powerful female.

Sekirei is about a boy named Minato Sahashi who has performance anxiety. This causes him to fail getting into college and disappoint his mother yet again. By chance though, one day he encounters Musubi, a girl who is under attack. She runs taking him with her and she finds out that he’s a master or an Ashikabi. An ashikabi has the ability to become a partner with some of the 108 members that make up Sekirei. They now have to fight to win the mysterious MBI corporation’s competition. Surprise, the Sekirei are all aliens. Right away, Sekirei is another harem similar to Freezing. Albeit this time, it’s a bit more forced since it’s essentially stated that Minato can form bonds and become partners with multiple women and pretty boys. There of course is plenty of fighting and action within this harem anime because it is a competition after all. There is a bit of humor mixed in as well. Don’t forget the fanservice too! Sekirei definitely capitalizes on it!

IS: Inifinite Stratos introduces Orimura Ichika who is a 15 year old boy living in a society where men are dominated by women. Why do you ask? Well only women can operate these super armors that go over their bodies called Infinite Stratos. Orimura accidentally gets placed in an IS training school. Suddenly as if by magic, he can now pilot an IS. He becomes the first male to ever enroll in the IS training school. Now the plot really opens up with him being the only male in an all-girls academy. Like Freezing, this show also has action scenes and there is the ecchi with harem and scifi elements as well! For the harem, I mean, come on, he’s the only guy in a school of all women! What’s for him not to like? These exoskeletons aka IS are also around for combat which is what they are training for. Infinite Stratos does lean a bit more on the harem genre, so this is for those diehard harem fans!

High School DxD is about Issei Hyodo who is essentially hopeless. He has horrible luck and he really just wants a harem. Set in a school setting, he finally gets to go on his first date with a girl! Then though, he gets killed. Great times are had by all for this poor guy. He gets reincarnated by his senpai who happens to be a devil, and she reincarnates him as a devil too! Now she is his master and they have to fight to beat the angels. High School DxD is rich in harem and ecchi with tons of fan service. High School DxD, just like Freezing, is set in a school setting. You also have a great harem setting with generous amounts of ecchi. Here also, the theme of women being stronger than men in society. This time though, it’s just his senpai who is above him unlike freezing where the women are just too overpowered. That being said, High School DxD is wildly celebrated and loved!

Rounding out this list, I present Hagura Yuusha no Aesthetica as a final show similar to Freezing. The difference here is that for the main characters have already won the fight? No really. The show opens where probably 95% of all anime end. The bad guy has been taken down and they are returning to supposed normal school life. Or not… now the main characters Akatsuki and Miu set out on a new adventure. Now as for parts that are similar to Freezing, this is an ecchi and action anime along with some fantasy elements. This is again, is another harem although it is a little less blatant in it's presentation when compared to Freezing. In both series, weapons are materialized for battles. The school settings also use a ranking system where sudents can fight to achieve higher ranks. Hope you enjoy this gem as well!

Ako and Riko are Keita’s two year older step-sisters. Because they aren’t his real sisters, they have a lot of love for him in the most romantic way. One day after school, Ako and Riko confess their love for Keita which in time, he becomes attracted to them as well. Both anime have similar storylines. We have two siblings who fall in love with each other, the older sister is a bit more controlling, making the boy a little weak in that sense. The difference between them might be that Aki-Sora has more nudity and some R-rated sex scenes, where as Kiss x Sis is a little more soft on that subject. They both are two great anime and worth the watch.

At summer vacation, Tamotsu has taken a break from work by visiting an unusual café. It’s there where he meets Pico, a young boy who works for his grandfather, and Tamotsu falls for Pico because of his feminine looks. Pico says he’s a guy, but Tamotsu has already fallen for Pico, and from there the two will begin their sexual relationship. The similarities between Aki-Sora and Boku no Pico, is that they both have a under age boy and a older person. Of course, it is the older person who makes the first move as they fall for each other. The difference between these anime is that Boku no Pico is Yaoi. They project similar feelings which makes them the same even though it's based on the opposite gender.

Aoi Nagisa is transferred to an all-girl catholic school on Astraea Hill. It’s not easy for Nagisa to fit in, so she goes to class, joins clubs and wants to make friends. In the meantime, Shizuma Hanazono finds herself drawn to this new and exciting transfer student. AS the two begin to know each other, they decide to visit Shizuma's troubled past. Both anime Aki-Sora and Strawberry Panic take place in a high school environment where the main protagonists are drawn to each other sexually, but try to fight their urges. In the end, they both give in to their feelings for each other. The difference between them is that Strawberry Panic is more Yuri than Aki-Sora.

The schools super-idols, Arisa and Mika, are sisters and the hottest and cutest girls in the whole school. Then we have Sousuke, a normal student who like everyone other boy in school, loves the super-idols. One day, Sousuke meets with Mika and she tells him that they have just become siblings. Their parents have gotten together and their lives about about to change. In a big way. These two anime are similar in many ways. First, we have incest between the three siblings (even though they're not blood related), for it’s a love-hate relationship amongst the younger sister and the main protagonist. Second, the older sister is the only one that has love for her brother as they all live under the same roof. This is a good anime to watch if you like Aki-Sora.

Makoto Itou is a high school student who is starting his second year at Sakakino Academy. Everyday on the way to school, Makoto takes the train and meets a fellow female student he has a crush on, Kotonoha Katsura. When his new friend, Sekai Saionji, learns his secret, she wants to help him. In the end, Sekai gets jealous of the new couple due to her developing feelings for Makoto. These two anime are similar because they share the same genre of romance and school life. The main protagonist is also similar in both anime, such as, being shy at first but then grows as the story goes on.

At school, it’s time for the finals, but the tests are not the only stressful thing in Yuuta’s life. He is a high school student who is given a lot of affection from his beautiful sisters, Chiyoko and Chinatsu. Chiyoko is feminine and caring, and loves to coddle with Yuuta. Chinatsu is a cute tomboy who always seeks Yuuta’s attention by teasing him. Who will win in such a love triangle between siblings? The similarities between the two anime is they both involve a high school guy and two sisters. One of the sisters is busty, while the other is less developed in that area and the main protagonist has more feelings for the busty sister. Both Swing out sisters and Aki-Sora have slight comedy and romance in them, as well as sharing similar art style and similar relationships between siblings.

Rumiko Takahashi’s first major hit, Urusei Yatsural, is largely credited with establishing the most common pattern appearing in contemporary anime, Monster Musume included: unremarkable male gets extraordinary girl(s). Urusei Yatsura might be quaint and a little dated by today’s standards. However, its vintage qualities perhaps render this show charming and fascinating. Within the fan service doled out each episode of Monster Musume, we can find echoes of Urusei Yatsura, whether it is ecchi or comedic interludes. For those unfamiliar with this classic anime, Urusei Yatsura details the life of the unlucky high school student Ataru Moroboshi and voluptuous space alien Lum. After a misunderstanding that leads Lum to believe that Ataru wants to marry her, Ataru’s daily life becomes intertwined with the wacky antics of the now local alien life.

More in line with the monster girl harem theme, we have Rosario + Vampire. Though the monsters girls of this show occupy the scarier end of the monster spectrum, with such creatures as vampires and succubus, they are pleasantly guised as youthful high school girls. Much like Monster Musume, we have a seemingly unremarkable male character surrounded by a dizzyingly array of monster girls attracted to him. Armed with both action and ecchi, this show might be best for those looking for a bit of shounen mixed with harem. Rosario + Vampire is the story of Tsukune Aono, a boy who fails to enter a human high school and find himself enrolled in a boarding school for monsters. Though he is frightened out of his mind, he quickly befriends the beautiful vampire girl Moka Akashiya and many other monster girls.

Bouncing back to alien girls, we have To Love-Ru, where a girl literally falls from the sky and falls in love with a hapless high school boy. Like the above mentioned Urusei Yatsura and Monster Musume, To Love-Ru combines harem, ecchi, and a little bit of science fiction in a love comedy certain to entertain. To Love-Ru is about the love struggles of Rito Yuuki. Having failed to confess to the girl of his dreams, Haruna Sairenji, Rito, through a variety of mix-ups, becomes engaged to Lala, the alien princess of Deviluke. To make matters worse, this sudden engagement places Earth in danger of being destroyed.

The previously listed anime generously doles out the fan service; Seto no Hanayome is not that type of anime. But this show’s quirkiness more than makes up for the lack of blatant ecchi. Though Seto no Hanayome is not a harem, Monster Musume resembles this show in some regards due to the focus on human and non-human relationships. This time, though, marriage is a reality for the hapless male who is suddenly tied down to a mermaid. Seto no Hanayome centers on the story of Nagasumi Michishio, a teenage boy who becomes married to Seto San, the daughter of a Yakuza-esque mermaid family. This marriage does not go off without a hitch, however, and Nagasumi find his newly married life to a mermaid to be complicated.

When all is said and done, Jitsu wa Watashi wa is a Rosario + Vampire in reverse. Rather than a human at a school for monsters, we have monster girls at a school for humans. These monster girls in turn focus their romantic attentions to a seemingly normal boy like they do in both Rosario + Vampire and Monster Musume. Yet, rather than featuring heavy fan service, Jitsu wa Watashi wa frames itself as a romantic comedy, making it a much more refreshing, story oriented anime when compared to the ecchi-esque Monster Musume. For those who haven’t tuned in to Jitsu wa Watashi wa yet, this show revolves around Asahi Kuromine, a relatively high school boy who discovers his classmate Yōko Shiragami is a vampire. Keeping this a secret wouldn’t seem to be a problem…if only Asahi wasn’t known for his inability to keep secrets and tell lies…and if only the secrets he had to keep didn’t keep increasing.

Last but not least, we have Orenchi no Furo Jijou. If you want a series like Monster Musume, but with a Boys Love twist, then look no further. Orenchi no Furo Jijou is here to serve with its bevy of mermen encroaching on the everyday life of an unsuspecting high school boy. Orenchi no Furo Jijou tells the story of Tatsumi, a high school boy who shares his bathtub with the handsome merman Wakasa. Tatsumi’s life becomes more difficult as other mermen begin to enter the scene and do more than just crowd his bathtub.

Youto Yokodera is a young pervert; a high school student that only cares about girls, swimsuits, short skirts and the female anatomy. Somehow though, his lewd acts pass off as having the best intentions. Trying to stay true to his perversion, Youto prays to a cat statue that grants him his wish to openly express his desires. He soon realizes that expressing his naughtiness wasn’t a good idea after all, since everyone can see the pervert in him. This puts him through some awkward and hilarious situations as he desperately tries to undo his wish and clean his reputation. Do you laugh your butt off too every time Big Andre from Prison School gets aroused for getting beaten to death or spit on? Then you’ll have a blast watching the painfully honest pervert Youto being punished and humiliated by a cast of beautiful teens! Follow him on this ecchi romantic comedy, as popular as it is original.

The story in Seitokai Yakuindomo begins very much like Prison School. The Ousai Academy is accepting male students for the first time in its history. Takatoshi Tsuda didn’t pay attention to this fact and now has to adapt to school life surrounded by girls – girls who are used to being around only girls and speak way too openly about girl issues and sex. This results in completely bizarre, awkward and funny conversations, most of which are about sex. For a show that is so much about sex, it’s weird there’s little to no ecchi in it. The perversion is still there though and you’ll have a couple laughs watching it.

If one episode per week of Prison School does not fully satisfy you and you’re looking for some more ecchi (isn’t it what we’re all looking for?), then your search is over. Ladies versus Butlers has got the fan service we all like and that hint of romance to spice it up. Akihano Hiru enters a boarding school as a butler. Very much like in Prison School, he is one of few male students in a high school full of beautiful girls. There’s a catch though, some of these girls are as beautiful as they are fearsome, and their sexiness is only rivaled by their loathing for men. Ladies vs Butlers, just like Prison School and many other harem Anime, features a wide display of female archetypes. You’ll find the tsundere, the clumsy girl, the childhood crush, lolis and many more. Most of them, of course, can’t help to see poor Akihano as a pervert. It doesn’t really help him much having a natural ability to slip, stumble and fall on girls’ breasts either. This makes the girls pretty mad, especially the tsundere girl, Sernia Flameheart who just doesn’t get tired of chasing Akihano to beat the heck out of him.

The relationship between the two main characters in Iketeru Futari reminds us of the relationship between the five boys and Meiko Shiraki (the vice president) in Prison School. That is to say, a perverted high school student that is constantly beaten down by his crush as a result of his improper behavior. Keisuke Saji spends his days daydreaming about hot women and he can’t help but fall in love with Akira Koizumi. She is a small, cute girl from his school who hates men in general and perverts above all. Iketeru Futari is a seinen comedy with a bit of romance and strong ecchi elements. It’s probably the funniest one on this list. You’ll have a great time watching naughty Keisuke’s desperate and pathetic attempts to win Koizumi over.

Another hilarious ecchi comedy is Tonagura. This is the story of Kazuki Arisaka, who’s always been in love with her neighbor and childhood friend, Yuuji, but hasn’t seen him for ten years. Now he has come back into her life, only that he hasn’t grown a bit. To Kazuki’s surprise, Yuuji is a dirty boy who tries at all costs to touch, grab and kiss Kazuki and her lady parts. Naturally, Yuuji’s filthy behavior leaves Kazuki no choice but to put him in his place by kicking his behind on a regular basis. I personally laugh my face off when these perverts get punched in the face and smashed against the wall. That is one of the things I love about Prison School. That, and the fan service obviously. Well, this show has both those things!

The title of this anime pretty much summarizes what it’s about. In a near future, it is forbidden to talk about sex, to watch pornography and even to say profanities. Pretty much anything that can be considered indecent behavior is illegal. Tanukichi Okuma enters an elite high school of the highest moral standards but is soon blackmailed by Ayame Kajou to perform a series of obscene acts of ‘terrorism’ within the school. Even though the girls in this show are not sadistic towards men, Shimoneta resembles Prison School in other ways; mainly in the toilet humor. Shimoneta is all about dirty jokes. We’ll experience the kind of hilarious obscenities Prison School got us used to, just like Gakuto’s epic fart in class and Kiyoshi’s hemorrhoid problems. Also, the main character in Shimoneta, Ayame, is just as obsessed with sex as Kiyoshi, Joe, Andre, Gakuto and Shingo together. She takes perversion to a whole new level, exposing the innocent high school students to a display of sexual profanities never seen before. You are guaranteed to have a blast with this outstanding school comedy with lots of ecchi in it. Ayame and Tanukichi’s pranks are as obscene and hilarious as they are didactic. After all, their purpose is to teach everyone how natural and benign sex and profanities are. Right?

Taketo Akutagawa is studying at the Inspiration Academy Private High School – a school for the gifted and intelligent. His gift is in the form of being a talented writer and his work is about erotica. Even though he might not be seen as a noble guy, he still aims for the absolute top as the world’s best writer. Both anime have one lucky boy with girls all around him, in short, a harem. The schools in both anime are similar in the way they are presented; as a weird place. Other similarities involve the main character and his quest to achieve a specific goal while interacting with a variety of characters and events. Both of these anime have similar styles and genre; drama, comedy, a few emotional scenes of course and some romance as well.

Angeloids, strange dreams and meteors crashing down… These are just some of the things Sakurai Tomoki is going through in his life with Ikaros and Nymph, his two angeloids. But that is not all that happens in the eventful life of Tomoki. He keeps having weird dreams, and with some help from Nymph, they come up with a machine that can enter Tomoki’s dreams to see what they’re really about. These anime are similar in multiple ways. Firstly, we have the main protagonist who is a rather weak boy. The main character in both anime has a childhood friend who likes them. They live with girls, because both anime have the harem element plus a comedy style to them. They have similar types of humor and the main protagonist is blind to the fact that the girls like him. More similarities include the fact that the main character is a pervert and has girls protecting him in some way.

Aoi Academy is a school for the best magicians. Our protagonist is Kazuki Shikimori – a 17 year-old boy going to Aoi. The magicians at the school can only perform a specific number of spells and exceeding one’s limit will result in a quick death. The number of spells that Kazuki can perform is way below the average for students at his school. Kazuki meets three girls one day and soon realizes that those girls want something: his genes. These two anime are both harem-style anime with one guy surrounded by girls. Both have one girl that claims to be the main protagonist’s fiancé and also another girl who wants to kill the main character. The stories in both anime take place at a school where magic is being used with emphasis on spells, or in other words, one’s combat abilities.

The anime takes place in the year 2046 with Haruyuki Arita an outcast at his own school. He doesn’t like his pitiful life and often turns to virtual games to escape from it all. One day, when the number-one popular girl in school shows him the program Brain Burst, that is when it all changes. Some similarities between both anime are that we have a main protagonist who is a weak boy at first but after some time, he gains a power of some sort which makes him stronger. Because both anime are harem-style, the main character has girls around him very often. And in both anime, the girls that come into the protagonist’s life are in love with him.

The anime is about Sado, a boy who likes it when he feels depressed and put down. In order to break out from this affliction he finds and joins a club which will hopefully help him correct his strange way of life. But he learns that this will not be so easy when the other club members reveal their own problems. The main character in both anime is being punched, kicked, and just abused in general all the time. The main character is a big pervert but has many girls around him who are also quite perverted sometimes. Both anime have a focus on school life with heavy shades of harem and comedy. Both of our main protagonists seem to enjoy being beaten up and have big perverted personalities, but can be serious at times.

Akihisa Yoshii is the star of the anime and the idiot mentioned in the title. At the school he’s attending, if a student attains good grades, then they are placed into a class with high quality AC, comfortable chairs, a cushy classroom, etc. But if a student’s grades are bad, as is the case with Akihisa, then they basically get a pretty bad learning experience with nothing more than some old furniture. And never mind quality AC – they’re lucky to have a school day go by without sweating buckets. The similarities between these two anime start with the style of superpowers which exist in each world. They are ecchi harem based with one boy and a bunch of girls fawning over him. The school in each anime is on the strange side when it comes to educational institutions. The main character is not that smart and doesn’t seem to grasp the fact that girls like him. Both anime have two girls who like the main character – the childhood friend and the strongest girl among the students.

This show has been described as a “beautiful girl sexy battle action” anime. Well, let’s see if it lives up to that name. Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid actually started out as a smartphone game and a game for the PS Vita. Not bad for something that was a game and has no manga! This show has lots of fan service, so if this is your thing, then you’ll love Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid!

The plot synopsis says that there are five manmade islands. Mamori is a girl who gets transferred to one of these islands. However, fate is unkind to her one day and she is attacked. A girl named Mirei saves her but at the last moment, Mirei kisses Mamori. This transforms Mamori into a sword! Mirei grabs the sword and fights back against her foes! That’s about all we know right now till it airs!

What you can gather from the PV, is that some girls are engaged in some sort of a battle. Paradise seems to exist, but for some reason, weapons are needed. How are they made? Kisses. When one character kisses certain others aka Mirei/Mamori, BAM! They turn into a weapon and become a pair. Perfect for fighting! Think like Soul Eater but with much much much more boobs and skirts.

Somewhere far, far away, an all-girls school exists. There is not a single male student in attendance at this school. However, the girls are a bit out of touch with reality after graduation and so, in order to put a stop this, the administration brings in a real, live male student, Kimito Kagurazaka. The problem is thus. The school brought him in because they thought that he was gay and into muscle dudes. This way the girls could study how a “common male” thought and functioned without being in any danger. The reality though is that he is straight!

He is then presented with an ultimatum, he can go to this school and pose as a gay man. However, if he is found out, he will be castrated. Why so hard you ask? Because the school doesn’t want him preying on these innocent girls! So he accepts because he doesn’t want to get castrated. Obviously. However, one day, he meets a girl named Aika Tenkubachi and suddenly his own tale begins. Will he be found out and lose his package? Or will be keep his identity a secret and try to hide it? Watch to find out!

The first season of The Testament of Sister Devil: BURST aired on January 7th 2015. This is the second season. Just in case you haven’t seen the first season and want to watch this show, or you are going to jump in here, let me give you a quick refresher on what the series is about.

Basara Tojo is a high school student. One day, his father asks him, “Hey, didn’t you say you wanted a little sister?” His father remarries and suddenly Basara has sisters! What he doesn’t know though, is that they are actually a beginner devil and a succubus. Thought some mishaps, they try to form a contract over him, but because the wording was wrong, he now has dominion over them. Now it’s up to him to choose to be served how he wants to be!

From glancing at the PV, you can see that he is dedicated to saving his family as he flat out says that they are family and he will protect them. Then it turns into some steamy bath scenes followed by a couple of epic fight scenes! This seems to be the ecchi anime of the season that has the most action! I personally am now looking forward to this show after seeing the PV and I hope that you are too!

Based on a 2000 PC game, the story centers around a gathering of witches and a student who finds a book on black magic and starts using it for his own viscous purposes. In addition to, obviously, it’s sexual content, the series has fantasy elements like mind control, reincarnation, as well as a fair share of horror. Mixing the occult with explicit, it’s no wonder the PC game and it’s succeeding OVAs struck a chord with the hentai crowd, offering something more than other anime on the market at the time. In what might have been the ultimate troll from a now ex-employee at the cartoon channel Teletoon, the first thirty minutes of a re-cut version of the first OVA entitled Bible Black Complete Version, was aired at midnight, probably shocking the hordes of 10 year-olds allowed to stay up late watching re-runs of their favorite cartoons.

It goes without saying that any self-respecting hentai anime top ten list – now I’m not claiming that such a thing exist, or that this list would fall in under that category, but just bear with be and try to imagine that it does – needs at least one tentacle r*** porn entry. Western discussions about this particular genre does however always seems to exaggerate the proliferation of such pornography in Japan – perhaps in an expression of this somewhat outdated ‘Weird Japan’ stereotype, but that’s a topic for another article. Anyway, boy peeps at teacher, teacher is actually a titular witch, boy is punished and turned into titular tentacle monster, tentacle sex ensues. Tentacles and Witches basically takes over where Urotsukidoji ended, minus the gore (and, arguably, pop-culture value and general edginess).

I was in doubt as to which sort of yaoi hentai I should choose, something light like Sensitive Pornograph or something less safe for work, and ended up opting for the latter. Based on the popular and most certainly highly controversial game of the same ways, Enzai is set in 19th century France in the aftermath of the revolution and follows a young boy named Guys, who gets convicted for a murder he didn’t commit. I’ll leave the conditions of the prison he is sent to up to the reader’s imagination, but he does drop his soap more than once. The ‘prison’ is one of the classic porn movie settings, and Enzai is the anime to choose if one’s into the Yaoi version of that kind of stuff. Though the anime is said to lack the game’s depth and plot, it still preserves a lot of elements that makes it live up to the ‘intelligent hentai’ brand.

The most surprising part of this tale of a sadistic gynecologist named Ryuji Hirasaka is not the fact that it contains enough quantities of a certain bodily fluid that doesn’t put a certain girl in a tub to shame, but that all of the titular nurses are OVER the age of what sane persons would consider appropriate for being depicted in a pornographic movie. Another ‘hentai hentai’ anime, in the sense that it’s not only erotic but also features some pretty twisted stuff, Night Shift Nurses holds the actually pretty impressive reputation as one of the most graphic hentai anime. I try to live by the rule that if something is controversial, and by virtue of being controversial has managed not to fade into obscurity, it’s at least done something right and is thereby worth checking out.

Although almost all the series on this list involves elements of BSDM, Behind Closed Doors is the best example of the genre: a couple is invited to a mysterious mansion, where the husband in question is about to discover a thing or two about his perverted sexual desires. While you, even though you have interest enough to read this far, might be put off by the overtly sexual contents of series like Behind Closed Doors, it might be worth asking: is there any substantial difference between this and any given harem anime? We have a guy, surrounded by maidens willing to please his every desire, just like the high school girls flocks mindlessly around the main protagonist in any given harem series, just without all that suggestive bullshit. Or am I overthinking things here?

A recurring image in almost every hentai or slightly erotic anime (perhaps with the exception of Virgin Night, see below) is that of the chikan – euphemistically translated to ‘Sleazy in the English title – the person which approximately 40% of all billboards on Japanese trains warns you about. A conductor that has probably watched one too many a sexual assault on his shift, who probably also is getting too old for this shit, decides to turn his train into a swinger’s party on wheels, giving birth to the mythological eponymous Midnight Sleazy Train, Crazy Train’s perverted cousin (bad pun is bad). As a synopsis online poetically puts it: ‘get ready to climb aboard… the sleazy train is COMING’ [sic].

If not for anything else, we got to give the creators of this anime credits for the ridiculous premise they managed to come up with: In a reverse China scenario, the male/female ratio is at a critical low, leading the government to issue a card for the seemingly only guy left in town – under the ‘New Sex Law’ he gets a permit to sleep with any girl he might desire, as long as he remembers to carry his ‘Free Sex License’. There’s no such thing as a free lunch though – in an obvious reference to the biblical figure of Onan, who for spilling ‘his seed on the ground’ was put to death, the ‘lucky guy’ is required to make a positive contribution to the country’s declining population – every single time. In addition to its thought-provoking story and provocative art style, Zettai Junshu has also been noted for its rare inclusion of strong, intriguing female characters, as well as its many, often satirical, references to contemporary Japanese society (or maybe I’m just trollin’).

If we choose to interpret ‘Hentai’ in the Japanese sense of the word, as meaning twisted or perverted, Urotsukidoji is probably the closest we’ll ever get. The OVA was based by the works of one of the pioneers of Hentai manga, Maeda Toshio, and is also where the tentacle r*** made its, if not first, at least most memorable appearance. Its tale of the revival of a Super God – the titular Overfiend – as well as epic battles between demons, humans and men-beasts places it in the sci-fi fantasy genre, and it also features a fair share of horror and guts, as well as, of course, tons of twisted sex scenes. It is said only to be rivaled by Akira when it comes to influential anime abroad, and even though this probably is an overstatement, it definitely deserves its status as an anime classic – Urotsukidoji is the epitomization of ‘Hentai’, in the original Japanese meaning of the word.

As can most definitely NOT be said about all of the other anime on the list, this is one of the few erotic anime that I would actually consider finishing (I’m sorry if I ruined the impression that I’ve actually sat through every single episode of all this crap and consequently lost my credibility with the hentai community). Again, the title tells the story: virgin night (alternatively ‘First Night’) is about the first sexual encounter between two teenagers that have been in a long-term serious relationship. Compared to the other entries on this list, it might seem like a light-weight, but in terms of story this is probably as good as it gets. One of the few – if not the only – erotic anime to receive mainstream appraisal, this is the anime you want to watch if you want to fool your date that you’re doing the 2015 version of ‘reading playboy for the articles’, or if you’re genuinely interested in a good anime.

The title makes a nod to the classic Taboo movie series from the final days of the ‘golden age’ of American pornographic movies, and both the original and the anime share incest as a common theme. I won’t question the questionable subject matter here, I’ll simply just recognize the fact that it in some circles is regarded as the paragon of hentai, and a classic of the genre. Now for the plot: a mother, Misako, who of course is unsatisfied with her and her absent-minded husband’s sex life, starts receiving creepy calls from a stranger, and as that wasn’t enough, she and her stepson engages in a sexual relationship. And as her younger sister also eventually gets dragged into this twisted relationship, drama ensures. As before mentioned on this list, one should be cautious of drawing any conclusions on ‘Japanese culture’ based on this kind of source material, and rather see it as an example of how a business that’s seen profit fall significantly over the past few years chooses to opt for shock value to please its consumers.

Sakura Trick is the story of two high school girls, Haruka and Yuu who go to a high school which is about to close down in a few years, making them among the last students to enter the school. They share something more than just friendship between them – a kiss that will strengthen their relationship even further. What similarities do Sakura Trick and Valkyrie Drive share? Let’s see... the most obvious one has to be that in both anime, we have a lot of kissing between girls and these kisses cause their relationships to grow stronger, beyond those of mere friendship.. Even though they are similar in a lot of ways, Sakura Trick can be a little more soft on the ecchi part compared to Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid.

The story of Seikon no Qwaser is about super warriors who have the ability to use weapons of their choosing based on which element the possess. But with this power a warrior’s stamina gets drained and the only way to get their stamina back is by the liquid substance which the Qwaser’s female partner possesses. Seikon no Qwaser and Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid share some sexual similarities. For example, both anime use a sexual way to power up their weapons. If grown men breastfeeding doesn’t make an anime stand out then what does? But anyhow, they don’t just do this to power up the weapons. They also do it in order to get their energy back when they have used it for fighting. Both anime have many scenes with nudity and some pretty awesome fighting scenes.

This anime takes place in a far off land were a tournament is held through which the land’s next queen is chosen by the victor. To make it into this tournament, the women have to be top-notch when it comes to fighting. Both anime have the style of showing a lot of nudity especially when it comes to breasts. Even though this is a big element in both anime, they have the similarity of featuring many strong warriors. Where these anime meet is in how little clothing/armor the characters seem to be wearing even though these women are strong fighters. The female fighters of course have some armor when battling, but other than that we have two over-the-top ecchi-style anime.

Toujou Basara is a first year high school student and his world will soon be forever changed when his dad suddenly asks him if he wants a little sister. His energetic dad had more news, he’s getting remarried and plans to bring home two attractive step sisters for Basara. But who could’ve guessed that Mio and Maria’s true persona is that of the new demon lord and a full-blown Succubus? These anime are similar because of the strong ecchi style they share and the similarity in terms of action scenes in both anime. Other similarities include the union that two characters make to become a stronger team. The main plot in both anime are similar because of the strong focus on the ecchi theme they both share.

Freezing takes place in a world where the planet has been attacked by aliens called the Nova. The anime is about Kazuya Aoi who enlists in a special training school for the only weapon-based system that can take down the Nova. The Pandora are what fight against the aliens and they need a female and male partner who work together to take down the aliens. Freezing and Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid are two anime which both share the similarity of being about two characters fighting together somehow. Another one would be that they share a cast full of strong women with armor. Of course, the biggest thing the two anime have which make them similar is the big focus on the ecchi interactions. And this goes without saying, but they also have lots of fan service.

This anime is set in an era where breasts are everything and if you’ve got ‘em you are basically promised to be rich, popular and on top of the world. But if you don’t have big breasts you are not even worthy of being called human. The Manyuu clan has a secret scroll which reveals the secret of how to grow big and beautiful breasts and that is why the clan helps to train the future girls to have big breasts. Let’s get to the similarities between these two anime, shall we? They both have a big focus on the ecchi genre. Especially when it comes to big breasts. Another element which Manyuu Hikenchou and Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid share is the fact that even though a lot of the focus is on the ecchi theme, we also have a big focus on the action part.

With dreams of becoming a high priest so as to help others, you can imagine Akuto Sai’s disappointment after being told that he’s destined to become the next Demon King. Understandably his classmates are a bit wary of him as well, although he has drawn the attention of a few of the girls around school. Now, one or two of them might be trying to kill him, but a harems a harem right? Join Akuto in his efforts to prove that Demon Kings aren’t always the bad guys, and in doing so maybe pick up a few cute girls along the way. Although Testament is a bit more full on, both shows’ main purpose is to provide ecchi fan service, which they do an excellent job of. Testament and Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou both feature a main character who is incredibly strong, but also has negative assumptions made about them, despite their desire to fight for good. For that same reason they both also have a number of delightful female followers, who just won’t leave them alone. The two shows have so much in common that if you liked Testament it would be hard to find a reason not give Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou a watch.

How to tell if a date is going badly: she turns out to be a fallen angel and brutally murders you. After such a poor night out, perverted teenager Issei Hyodo is lucky enough to get resurrected by the voluptuous devil Rias Gremory, who also happens to be the most popular girl in school, and president of the Occult Research Club. Now part of Rias’s peerage, Issei has to adapt to his new life as a devil, though fortunately the harem gathering around him does make it much easier. Despite some differences in character dynamics, High School DxD and The Testament of Sister New Devil: BURST feel very alike in terms of atmosphere, genre and fan service. The main difference between the two is that High School DxD can come off as whacky at times, when the fan service reaches peak levels, however both still have some excellent story driven moments and action scenes. Although High School DxD’s fan service isn’t quite as borderline-hentai as Testament’s, it’s still pretty high level and often more frequent. Much like Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou, High School DxD is so similar to The Testament of Sister New Devil that if you like one, you will almost certainly enjoy the other.

Your average teenage pervert, it all starts going downhill for Ryousuke Kaga after he meets beautiful shinagami Lisara Restall. As it turns out, he’s only got three months to live. Thankfully Lisara offers to help him stay alive, but only in exchange for his help keeping her in the mortal world. Unfortunately that involves letting her drain all his perverted energy, which sure makes reading ecchi magazines a whole lot less fun. Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai is yet another show based around demons which shares a lot of similarities with Testament. Once again, the ecchi levels are off the charts, with both our protagonists having a host of cute girls surrounding them, who are always finding themselves in awfully lewd situations. Although not quite as intense as Testament of Sister New Devil, Dakara Boku wa H ga Dekinai has some great fight scenes and fan service, and is a great pick up if you find yourself running out of cute devil girls (which can be a serious problem).

There are many things about Arata Kasuga that even he doesn’t understand, the main one being how he managed to cause a Breakdown Phenomenon that destroyed his entire hometown. Now attending the Royal Biblia Academy, Arata is determined to learn more about his power, and find his missing cousin Hijiri, who might be the only person who can tell him what really happened that day. To that effect, the school headmaster advises him to gather the Trinity Seven, the school’s seven most powerful mages, to aid him, and as luck would have it they all also happen to be beautiful young girls. As with Testament, Trinity Seven once again gives us our insanely overpowered protagonist, and a swathe of girls who cling to him like metal to a magnet. One of the surprising things about both series, is that unlike our usual harem leaders, these guys are totally up for it. This mixes things up a bit with the character dynamics, making them both not quite as repetitive as some ecchi series can be. With a stronger focus on plot than some of the series in this list, Trinity Seven is a great series if you want something more than just fan service.

Despite living with three of the galaxy’s princesses, being constantly chased by an unstoppable assassin, and being harassed by numerous other girls at school, Rito Yuuki does a pretty good job of living a normal life. In fact the biggest problem he has is being unable to confess his feelings to his crush, Haruna Sairenji. Third princess Momo however, has much bigger plans for Rito, harem plans. Because if you go by space rules then technically polygamy isn’t a problem. Both Testament and Motto To Love-Ru are currently some of the highest quality ecchi anime about, with excellent animation and art. Testament’s Maria and Momo from To Love-Ru are like two peas in a pod, both constantly keeping our protagonists on their toes in their harem creation plans. Although both feature very different stories, if you went to Testament for the fan service, then Motto To Love-Ru will certainly not disappoint. To add to that, with its sequel To Love-Ru Darkness and Darkness 2nd already out, there’s plenty of ecchi to go around.

Killing the God of War comes with some responsibilities attached, the weight of which Godou Kusanagi is really feeling after suddenly finding he has become a Campione, a God Slayer. With his new title, Godou is expected to take care of troublemaking Gods, a task easier said than done. But as a host of attractive young ladies begin to show an interest in his new found power, things suddenly start to look up. Acquire super powers, get girls: there’s definitely a pattern here. Both Testament of Sister New Devil and Campione see our main protagonists using their immense powers to stop evil, and acquire harems. Campione’s theme of old gods keeps the show feeling fresh, but still very similar to Testament in its genre and contents. Much like Testament, Campione includes a bucket load of ecchi fan service, excellent magical battles and a solid enough plot to keep things interesting. Campione is great if you want something a bit more light hearted, although we’d still advise doors closed, headphones on.
